When the Festive Range Arrives
Starbucks UK has launched its Christmas menu in early November in recent years, following the autumn range rather than replacing it immediately. The red cups arrive with it and are the clearest signal that the changeover has happened.
The date is not announced far ahead and moves year to year. When it lands, every festive item appears on this site with its price and nutrition automatically, since the figures are pulled from the menu data rather than written into articles.
What the Range Usually Holds
The festive menu is built from flavoured lattes and hot chocolates rather than from new formats. Toffee nut, gingerbread and praline flavours have all featured, layered onto the same espresso and steamed milk base the standard board uses.
Food follows the same pattern: the bakery case takes on spiced and decorated versions of what is there year round rather than gaining new categories.
Because they are sauce and syrup builds on a familiar base, festive drinks sit at the upper end of the price board and carry calories to match. The current range tops out at £6.75, and a seasonal flavoured latte lands near that end rather than near Filter Coffee at £2.75.
What to Drink in the Meantime
For spice, the Chai Latte carries cinnamon, ginger and cardamom and is on the board all year. No delivery partner lists it, so it is a counter order.
For something rich, the Caffè Mocha at £5.30 and 283 calories is the closest standing drink to a festive hot chocolate build.
The Bearista Gingerbread Cookie at £3.30 is the one item that tastes of Christmas and never leaves the case, and at 183 calories with 1.4g of saturated fat it is among the lighter things in the case.
Is the Christmas Menu Worth the Wait?
The drinks are flavoured versions of what is already there, priced at the top of the board. On the numbers alone there is nothing a syrup build cannot approximate for less.
The appeal is that it comes round once a year, and that is a fair reason on its own. For anyone who wants the flavour rather than the occasion, cinnamon on a Caffè Latte at £4.60 gets remarkably close in November or in July.
